EVERY MOMENT COUNTS
Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) is a neonatal birth defect due to abnormal development of the heart that could involve the interior walls of the heart, the valves inside the heart, or the arteries and veins that carry blood to the heart or the body.
Blue Baby Syndrome is another term used for CHD. CHD affects approximately nine out of 1,000 newborns and is one of the leading causes of infant mortality. However, early detection and right treatment increases the chance of survival and has good long-term prognosis among newborns. Around 90% of CHD-affected children can be treated if diagnosed early, even better if it gets detected before birth.
One of the main reasons that it is leading cause of infant mortality is because most of the patients are poor. They are either ignorant of the fact about the existence of the disease or do not have the resources to treat the children. CHD is to be detected at birth or even before. But the poor, uneducated people are not even aware of such things.
Aishwarya Trust aims to take care of these little hearts – one heart at a time.
