Subasri, a 6-year-old child from Vizhupuram, underwent a VSD closure surgery at MGM Hospital, Chennai, on July 21st. The child is doing well today after surgery.

Subasri’s situation posed a challenge. She was diagnosed with a VSD condition in 2020 at Vizhupuram camp held by Aishwarya Trust. On evaluation, the child had a VSD defect with severe PAH (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension). Hence, she was rejected for surgery at several hospitals previously. She underwent Cardiac Catherization twice with the support of Aishwarya Trust and was started on medications to lower her PAH. Finally, she underwent a successful VSD closure surgery in July.

Subasri’s parents are very grateful to Aishwarya Trust for providing timely financial and medical support to treat their daughter.

Subasri is seen here with Dr. Ramya Sri and her father at her follow-up checkup at the Vizhupuram camp. Aishwarya Trust runs a periodic screening camp at Vizhupuram to screen children from underprivileged families for congenital heart defects (CHD).
